John Treeleaf the environmentalist
John is 39 and works in an legal non profit organization. He is very passionate about protecting the environment so he volunteers to help any free time he gets. The does not mind doing physical work but what he really enjoys is being the boss - strategically planning something and than telling people what needs to be done to accomplish the result. Also he spends at least two weekends a month protesting new construction sites.
Most of the things he owns are recycled. He talks about the importance of recycling and environmental problems with all of his friends. John does yoga two times a week and rides a bicycle everywhere. Lives on a small house outside the city and grows a lot of his own food.
He spends a lot of time online researching new environmental events, potential dangers, setting up protesting events and reading about animal rights events. He wants to keep in touch with like minded people and convince others of the importance of conserving nature.
He has been a volunteer in the coastal cleanup event for many years.
Jodie the family mom
Jodie is 32 and works as a secretary for a small private company in the city and has tho kids that go to elementary school. She considers family to be the most important thing in the world and believes in teaching her kids right. She likes to plan family outings for every weekend that include lots of fresh air, nature and fun activities. She likes things online to be simple and easy and is interested in information about fun family activities, proper education for her children and talking to other family mothers to solve problems and compare notes. She wants to find experts, that she can count on to know the things she does not know to be a better mother.
She buys organic food from local Farmer's Markets and cooks meals everyday for the whole family. Jodie also cares about the environment and wants to teach her children more about conserving it but she wants to do it in a way that is meaningful - she wants to teach them by giving them the opportunity to experience how it is to take care of nature.
Robert Senior
Robert is 63 and Has been retired for 2 years. He spends most of his afternoons working on things at home, reading and likes to watch tv or movies in the evenings. He likes to stay active and run 3 times a week and sometimes take long walks in a local park. Robert eats most of his meals at home, and sometimes visits a local coffee shop. Does not use credit cards. He likes to know what is going on around him so he reads the newspaper everyday and watches the news on tv. His passion for books keep him entertained and "in the know" about things that make the world go round.
Robert has a computer, but uses it mostly to communicate with his children.
He wants to contribute more to the community but right now only does that once in a while.
Sarah Professional
Is 25 years old and feels like the job she has does not use her skills at a high enough level. She lives in the city and has a roommate to split the rent. She wants to make a lot of money but has not had a lot of luck in finding her dream job. She uses computer a lot and is online at least 5 hours a day. Has a Facebook account, a blog and several e-mail accounts. She cares about getting things fast and doing her job even faster. She eats out a lot and does not like cooking.
Sarah goes out to clubs with her friends almost every weekend and enjoys watching movies as well as just socializing with people her age.
She cares about the environment and knows what is going on but does not know what specifically she should do to help out conserve it. She does not want to do things alone so the opportunity to socialize is a prerequisite for her to volunteer at the coastal cleanup.
